Dr. Robinson started Delaware Eye Center over 20 years ago. When Dr. Robinson moved to Delaware he saw a pressing need for a facility in Delaware that could provide state of the art care across all sub-specialties in ophthalmology. "When I first arrived in Delaware, patients often had to travel great distances to urban university hospital settings to obtain surgical care for complex cases. This was a great hardship for many patients."

In 2003, the Delaware Eye Surgery Center was opened in a new wing of the building. The facility is staffed with experienced nurses dedicated exclusively to eye surgery, and the facility provides state of the art surgical care at a much reduced cost for patients and the community. Along with cataract surgery, glaucoma and plastic surgery, the Surgery Center became the first outpatient facility in Delaware to provide outpatient vitreoretinal surgery for complex retinal disorders.

Over the past 20 years, the focus has been on attracting the most well trained and experienced doctors to join the practice. What started as a single physician practice in a 2000 square foot office, has now grown up to be the Delaware Eye Institute, a 26,000 square foot state of the art medical and surgical facility. The staff now includes 9 Board Certified ophthalmologists and 2 experienced comprehensive optometrist that cover all aspects of eye care including cataract surgery, glaucoma, retina, pediatric, and oculoplastic surgery.

With the dedicated ancillary staff of close to 70 employees, the Delaware Eye Institute doctors each year see around 40,000 patients for routine and comprehensive eye care, and perform over 5,000 surgical procedures.
